This is a "Crafts Meetup".
The activity focus will be to get together informally to work on small creative projects. Working on crafting things brings out the kid in us. We end up surprising ourselves with what we produce. It can get us out of our daily grind and freshen our point of view!
Sometimes we have to be serious people. This group hopes to meet the need for encouragement to take the time to play and create and wonder. There is a magic that happens when you plan the construction of something and yet have no idea what the actual result will be. Mistakes will be made, laughter will be heard, and inpiration will strike!
For our first project, we'll create paper mache creatures or alter egos. For inspiration, think of two different creatures and how you would morph them together to create something you identify with. For example, a raven and a grasshopper, a kiwi bird and a snail, superman and a fish, etc. Another idea for inspiration might be a child's drawing. We'll have a simple construction plan that you can follow (or not), and at least a second meeting to paint our creations. We'll supply the work space and glue and misc materials. You supply paper bags, wrapping paper, newspaper, twigs, pictures, or anything that inspires you.
In the future, we are totally open to suggestions as to type of craft or time of day or day of week. We can knit, make wire-wrapped jewelry, anything!
We are meeting at Diana's apartment, which is in a locked building. Call or text when you get here and I'll let you in!
