October Assembly - Organizing for Change

Come join us for our October 2018 assembly and learn more about our country's democratic processes while enjoying complimentary pizza! There will of course be singing, socializing, and even dancing if you're really brave.
Portland Gray Panthers will present an analysis and deconstruction of the Oregon November ballot, including city council and governor races, the statewide and local Portland ballot measures, and why voting is quintessential to protecting human rights and social justice locally, nationally, globally. They will also report on the two community forums they held in September which featured November election, housing, immigration and policy issues.
The national Gray Panthers group was founded in the 1970s by Maggie Kuhn. Their organizing model is inter-generational and inter-sectional. They have campaigns for low-income senior and disabled housing tenants, for transit riders, for immigrant and sanctuary city protect, and an educational campaign for Oregon's November midterm election.
